At Analox, we believe in investing in the future by supporting and developing the next generation of skilled professionals. As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re shining a spotlight on two of our talented apprentices: Rachael, our Sales Apprentice, and Louie, our Electronics Apprentice. We caught up with them to find out more about their experiences, what they’ve learned so far, and how their apprenticeships are shaping their careers.
I’m currently working towards a Level 4 Sales Apprenticeship. I started in Spring 2024 and hope to complete it by Spring 2025.
A lot more than I initially expected! Sales isn’t just about selling, it’s about understanding customers, managing time effectively, and identifying customer buying signals. The apprenticeship also covers customer interaction, ethical sales, and, most importantly, providing excellent customer support.
I work as a Sales Support Administrator within the Defence Team. Completing this apprenticeship will allow me to take on a more sales-focused role within the team. One of my colleagues had previously completed this apprenticeship and shared how beneficial it was, which gave me the confidence to ask my manager if I could pursue it as well. Thankfully, they supported me, and here I am!
I really enjoy attending workshops with people from different industries around the world. These sessions take place every week, allowing us to build connections and learn about how other businesses operate. It’s fascinating to see what strategies and insights could be applied to Analox.
Analox has been incredibly supportive, as has my team. I’ve been given one day per week to focus solely on my apprenticeship work, something that no one else on my course has received from their employer. My team also involves me in a variety of sales activities, ensuring I gain valuable hands-on experience. They constantly encourage and motivate me, reminding me that I can do this!
I’ve always been fascinated by electronics! When I was about eight or nine, I was given an electronics kit, and that sparked my interest. From that moment, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in this field.
After finishing school and college, I saw an apprenticeship role advertised at Analox. When I looked into the company and its markets, I found it really interesting. The job description was detailed, so I knew exactly what skills and knowledge were required. I applied, was lucky enough to get the job, and started in August 2024. My apprenticeship will last for two years.
It’s a great balance of hands-on experience and classroom learning. I get day release, which means I can study in an online e-learning setting while also applying what I’ve learned on the job. This combination is fantastic because it allows me to transfer skills between both environments.
Once I complete my apprenticeship, I’ll have a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electronics. My goal is to progress into a technical role at Analox and continue developing my expertise in electronics.
At Analox, we’re committed to fostering talent and providing opportunities for growth through apprenticeships. Rachael and Louie’s journeys highlight the value of combining practical experience with structured learning, and we’re incredibly proud of their progress so far.
Julie Cole, HR Manager at Analox, shares why apprenticeships are so important to the company:
“At Analox, we see apprenticeships as a way of investing in our company’s future. By providing young talent with the skills and experience they need, we’re not only supporting their individual growth but also ensuring that we continue to innovate and thrive as a business.”
