Project Overview

At Analox, we are proud to be part of the Dancing with Daffodils project, a collaborative initiative aimed to reduce methane emissions from ruminants. The project unites experts from various industries to explore the potential of a daffodil-derived feed additive in lowering methane emissions. Our role is to develop a gas monitoring system to measure the additives effectiveness regardless of the varying environments of which it will be situated.

How it Began

Our involvement began with our Sales Consultant, David Booth. With over 20 years experience in gas analysis, David has made connections with many influential people in the industry. One of these connections being Professor Jamie Newbold, a leading researcher at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) who David had previously worked alongside. Jamie informed David about the Dancing with Daffodils consortium and recommended Analox join as partner, recognising our expertise in gas detection. This led to our collaboration with Rumenco, the consortium’s lead organisation who suggested we partner on the project, looking at the development of on-farm measurement systems to verify and validate the Daffodil extract in use.

The Measurement Gap

Existing methane measurement technologies range from highly accurate but impractical respiration chambers to quick but less detailed ‘sniffer’ devices which measure concentrations of methane and carbon dioxide from animal breath. Our goal is to bridge the gap by developing a commercial gas monitoring solution with the capabilities of the respiration chambers with the ease of use and convenience of being used on farms.

Our People, Our Strength

We are very fortunate to have a team of highly skilled professionals like David, committed to innovating solutions in not just agriculture but also a range of other industries.
