John started his working life back in 2006 as a painter and decorator, and although this wasn’t his dream job, it secured him an income after leaving college.
Fast forward 12 months and John was introduced to Analox via a family member. Having an interest in electronics, John accepted the role as Production Assembler and his Analox story began!
Back in September 2007, John started out building Ax50’s (carbon dioxide monitors). But as the months passed and John’s confidence grew, he was ready for his next challenge.
John wanted to learn new skills to enable him to work on more complex products and bespoke custom systems. Seeing people work on the specialist products pushed John to speak with his Line Manager, where he explained his goals to build on his skill set and progress further within the organization.
Analox always supports their staff who are determined to progress and offer regular reviews and skills gap analysis to ensure the right people are in the right role.
John began to research college courses and once he had found the right one, Analox helped out by allocating time off from his regular working day so he could attend.
John started a college course in September 2013, initially completing Level 3 in Electronic Engineering then passing a HNC Electronic Engineering course in May 2015.
John commented ‘When I started college it was quite full on. Not only was I still working full time I also had a family too so there was limited time. Analox were great though, they allowed me time away from work to be able to go into college as well as time for revision and exams. It was great learning and working at the same time as I was able to practice daily what I had been taught. It also enabled me to bring ideas back to work from college.’
While John continued with his studies, he also progressed in his job role too moving to build Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products and finally bespoke designs of special submarine gas monitors.
John is now a Production Engineer in Analox, regularly leading teams of 3 production technicians on large scale contracts for gas analysis in submarine builds.
John said ‘I am over the moon with how Analox has supported me. I left school with only a few grades yet Analox has shown me an awful lot of trust and has always believed in me – every step of the way. I’m excited with my current role and can’t wait to see what other opportunities Analox will present for me.’
Julie – HR Manager commented ‘John has shown what hard work and determination can do for you at Analox. He has always been committed to improving himself and his team. We can’t wait to see how John progresses in the future.’
